Seachem Flourish Phosphorus is a nitrate-free phosphate supplement (potassium phosphate) and another of the three key macronutrients. Because it contains phosphate without bundling in nitrate, it lets you adjust phosphorus independently — dialing in exactly what your plants need without the risk of overdosing nitrate that comes with combined N-P products.
Where It Fits: Phosphorus often becomes the limiting nutrient in an otherwise thriving tank, showing up as stunted growth or unusually dark-green leaves. Used as directed — and ideally alongside a nitrogen source and Flourish Potassium — it accelerates plant growth. It's also safe for shrimp and other invertebrates, which makes it a comfortable choice for a planted shrimp tank.
A Word of Caution: Phosphate fuels algae only when it's in excess — more than the plants can use. The goal is to correct a deficiency, not to overdose; a phosphate test kit keeps you in the healthy range (generally about 0.15–1.0 mg/L) and well clear of feeding an algae bloom.
Dosing Guidelines: Use 2.5 mL (half a cap) per 20 gallons, once or twice a week, or as needed in response to deficiency signs — so about 1.25 mL for a 10-gallon tank. Increase gradually while watching your plants and your phosphate readings.
