The story of Cuboid Aquatics begins long before the store itself — more than a century before, in fact.

In the late 1800s, Harvey Fell's great grandfather, opened a mercantile store selling hardware and feed in Wilmington, Delaware. The store became a beloved institution, passed down through generations, and after his grandfather set up his veterinary practice in the store, transformed into Fell’s Pet Supplies.  Harvey grew up working alongside his father learning the pet business, and specifically the aquarium business.  When the store finally closed in the 1980s after more than 107 years in business, it marked the end of a remarkable family chapter — but it planted something in Harvey that never quite went away.

After leaving the family business, Harvey built a career in the aquarium industry, working as a salesperson for some of the most respected names in the hobby, including Tetra, API, and Sera. That role took him into fish stores across the country, giving him a depth of knowledge and perspective that very few people in the hobby can claim. He saw what worked, what didn't, and what was missing — and over the years, a vision began to take shape.

When the time came to get back to his roots, Harvey didn't set out to open just another pet store. He opened Cuboid Nature Aquarium — first in Peddler's Village, and later, as the business grew, in its current home in Pipersville, Pennsylvania. His vision was something different: a true aquascaping store, built around the idea that an aquarium is not just a tank of fish, but a living, breathing piece of nature brought into your home.

That philosophy runs through everything we do at Cuboid Aquatics. Rather than asking fish to adapt to whatever water comes out of your tap, Harvey developed what we call The Cuboid Way — the belief that fish deserve the water that is right for them. That means using RO water remineralized to match each species' natural habitat, combined with natural stones, driftwood, and live plants that create the kind of environment where fish don't just survive — they truly thrive. Less stress means healthier fish, more vibrant color, and a more beautiful aquarium for you.

More than sixty years of experience in this hobby and industry live behind every decision we make — from the fish we carry to the plants we source to the way we care for every animal in our store. That is the legacy Harvey built, and it is the store we are proud to be every day.
