Seachem Flourish (often called "Flourish Comprehensive") is the foundation of the Flourish planted-tank system — a broad-spectrum supplement of trace elements, vitamins, amino acids, and other micronutrients that aquatic plants need but that tap water and fish food rarely supply. It carries iron, manganese, magnesium, zinc, cobalt, and more, in the small quantities plants draw on for healthy leaf color and steady growth.
Where It Fits: Think of Flourish as your everyday micronutrient base, not a complete fertilizer. It deliberately contains very little nitrogen, phosphorus, or potassium — the macronutrients that a densely planted tank burns through — so in a heavily planted or high-light setup you'll pair it with the individual macro supplements (Potassium, Phosphorus, and a nitrogen source) to fill those gaps. In a lightly planted, well-fed tank, Flourish on its own is often enough.
It's a forgiving product — the trace elements are used in tiny amounts and modest overdosing is largely harmless — and it's most effective dosed right after a water change, when freshly diluted nutrients are readily taken up.
Dosing Guidelines: Use 1 capful (5 mL) per 60 gallons, once or twice a week — so for a 10-gallon tank that's a bit under 1 mL, and roughly 1.5 mL for a 20-gallon, dosed after your water change. Each cap thread is about 1 mL for measuring small amounts, and refrigeration is suggested once the bottle has been open about three months.
