Somphong’s Rasbora
Somphong’s Rasbora (Trigonostigma somphongsi) is the rarest and most sought-after of the Trigonostigma rasboras, with an exceptionally narrow wedge marking reduced almost to a thin dark line along the lower flanks — the most slender and elegant of the three.
Feeding & Care Tip: Hikari Micro Pellets make an excellent daily staple. Supplement 2–3× per week with Hikari Frozen or Freeze-Dried Baby Brine Shrimp or Hikari Frozen or Freeze-Dried Tubifex Worms. Feed small amounts 2–3 times daily.
Native to blackwater streams and forest pools in Thailand and the Malaysian Peninsula, this species does best in soft, slightly acidic conditions with dark substrate and gentle filtration.
Keep in groups of at least six, preferably ten or more. Completely peaceful and mixes well with other small, non-aggressive species. Its relative rarity makes it worth showcasing in a dedicated planted setup.
A fish for aquarists who appreciate subtlety. Its refined, slender body and restrained wedge marking give it an elegance that distinguishes it immediately from its relatives.
