Purple Harlequin Rasbora
Purple Harlequin Rasbora (Trigonostigma heteromorpha) is a selectively bred color variant of the classic Harlequin displaying a striking blue-violet to deep purple iridescence rather than the standard copper-orange. The bold black triangular wedge is retained.
Feeding & Care Tip: Hikari Micro Pellets make an excellent daily staple. Supplement 2–3× per week with Hikari Frozen or Freeze-Dried Tubifex Worms or Hikari Frozen or Freeze-Dried Baby Brine Shrimp. Feed small amounts 2–3 times daily.
Care requirements are identical to the standard Harlequin Rasbora. This fish thrives in soft, slightly acidic water with a planted background and dark substrate, which maximizes the purple-blue iridescence.
Keep in groups of at least six, preferably ten or more. The blue-violet sheen intensifies when males are actively displaying. Particularly stunning when kept in a large school against red aquatic plants.
A wonderful choice for aquarists who love the Harlequin's body shape but want a more unusual color palette. The shifting, jewel-like shimmer is genuinely eye-catching.
