Neon Red Rasbora
Neon Red Rasbora (Sundadanio rubellus) displays vivid red to orange-red flanks in males, with blue-green iridescence concentrated on the upper back — a warm, fiery coloration that makes it one of the most striking nano fish for the planted aquarium. A close relative of the Neon Blue Rasbora with identical care requirements.
Feeding & Care Tip: Start juveniles on Sera Micron Nature and transition to Sera Vipan Baby flakes as they mature. Supplement 2–3× per week with Hikari Frozen or Freeze-Dried Baby Brine Shrimp. Feed small amounts 2–3 times daily.
Native to blackwater peat swamps and shaded forest streams in Sumatra. Very soft, acidic, tannin-stained conditions are essential for producing the richest red-orange coloration.
Keep in groups of at least eight, preferably twelve or more. Can be kept alongside the Neon Blue Rasbora for a stunning two-tone display — cool blue-green and warm red-orange in identical conditions.
Two species that together create one of the most spectacular color combinations available in nano fishkeeping.
