Hikari Bio-Pure FD Bloodworms are freeze-dried bloodworms — a high-protein treat nearly every fish goes wild for, processed to keep the nutrition and palatability of live worms in a clean, shelf-stable, convenient form. Hikari's freeze-drying is done to reduce the parasite and bacteria risk that live bloodworms can carry, and the worms are gut-loaded with vitamins.
Feeding Tip — soak first: Freeze-dried foods are light and expand when wet, so soak a pinch in a little tank water before feeding to prevent fish gulping dry worms that swell in the gut. Feed as a treat a few times a week rather than a sole diet — bloodworms are rich but not nutritionally complete on their own.
Freeze-dried vs. frozen: This freeze-dried version is the convenient, room-temperature-stable choice — great if you don't want to manage a freezer. Our frozen Bio-Pure bloodworms are closer to live food and a bit more nutritious, so many keepers stock both: frozen for the main treat, freeze-dried for convenience. Either way, a bloodworm treat is a classic conditioning food for nano fish like the small rasboras and tetras (chili rasboras, ember tetras, Boraras and the like) and larger community fish alike.
