The ARKA myAqua 190 is a reverse osmosis (RO) system that strips up to 99% of dissolved solids — salts, nitrate, phosphate, heavy metals, chlorine, and pollutants — straight out of your tap water, giving you the clean, near-empty water that demanding aquascapes are built on. For shrimp keepers and planted-tank enthusiasts, RO water is the blank canvas you remineralize to exact parameters, rather than fighting whatever your tap happens to contain.
Good to Know: The myAqua 190 runs on water pressure alone — no electricity needed, and uses only natural filter materials (a fine sediment filter, carbon filter, and RO membrane) with no chemical additives. It produces roughly 190 liters (about 50 gallons) of RO water per day at up to a 1:1 pure-to-waste ratio. An optional mixed-bed resin stage can polish the output down toward 0 TDS for the most demanding Caridina shrimp and high-tech scapes.
Why It Matters for Aquascaping: Soft-water shrimp like crystals and Taiwan bees, and many delicate plants, need water far softer and cleaner than most tap supplies. Starting from RO and building up with a remineralizer (GH/KH salts) gives you precise, repeatable control over hardness and pH — the foundation of a healthy, stable shrimp or planted tank.
Setup & Use: Connect to a standard tap or water line (accessories included), run it to flush the new filters before first use, and check your output with a TDS meter. Replace the sediment and carbon filters periodically, and the membrane less often; if your TDS starts creeping up, it's time to service the filters or resin.
