The Zoo Med Original Banquet Block is a time-release "vacation" feeder — a solid block that slowly dissolves to feed your fish while you're away, with high-protein micro-pellets embedded inside. The original size feeds roughly 15–20 average fish over about a week (this larger block lasts longer), making it a convenient option for short trips when no one's home to feed.
A Gentle Word of Caution: These blocks are bound together with calcium sulfate, so as they dissolve they raise your water's hardness — and the original formula contains copper sulfate, which is harmful to shrimp, snails, and other invertebrates. For a planted aquascape, and especially a shrimp or snail tank, we don't recommend these. If you're leaving a community fish tank for a few days, a better approach is usually to simply not feed (healthy fish handle several days fine) or use an automatic feeder with your normal food. We're always happy to talk through vacation options for your specific setup.
We stock it for fish-only keepers who want a simple short-trip feeder — just keep it well away from inverts and planted nano tanks.
