Petite Wood is a refined hardscape material designed for nano aquariums, paludariums, and terrariums. This classic wood has been reimagined for miniature environments while retaining its expressive charm.

Each piece is carefully selected and sandblasted, highlighting its delicate branching, intricate details, and smooth surfaces. Despite its small size, Petite Wood offers big visual impact, making it ideal for crafting engaging, artistic layouts in limited space.

Its elegant form makes it easy to combine with mosses, small plants, or stones to build depth and character-even in the tiniest tanks.

The WIO difference: Petite Wood is handpicked, cleaned, and ready for creative expression. It’s a versatile staple for nano scapers who value detail and natural realism.

    Preparation and Handling Precautions

    • Curing Required: Petite Wood should be cured before placing in aquatic systems.
    • Basic Curing (for nano setups):
      - Soak in warm water for 24 hours.
      - Rinse thoroughly before use.
    • Intensive Curing (for livestock-ready setups):
      - Boil for 30–60 minutes to remove surface tannins.
      - Then soak in clean water, changing daily, until water runs clear.
    • Gradual Introduction: Start with one piece and monitor water chemistry in small tanks.

    Initial Buoyancy

    • May float when new. Soak for up to a month or secure using rocks, anchors, or WIO’s ScapeGlue Kits until fully waterlogged.

    Natural Organic Material

    • Natural variation in color, form, and size ensures every piece is unique.

    Water Monitoring

    • Petite Wood releases minimal tannins, but some may appear initially.
    • Maintain kH ≥ 3 to stabilize pH and prevent water chemistry swings.
    • Test pH, kH, and gH weekly during the initial weeks.
    • Perform partial water changes as needed to keep water clear.
    • Biofilm or saprolegnia may develop temporarily-this is harmless and part of the natural maturation cycle.

    Placement

    • Design Small, Think Big: Use Petite Wood as a focal element in nano tanks or in clusters to mimic tree roots or forest branches.
    • Pair with fine gravel, mosses, or miniature plants for lush micro-scenes.
    • Slightly embed or interlock with rocks to create stable, natural-looking layouts.
