Pancuraji Moss is a rare Bornean moss, currently classified as a Callicostella species pending full identification. It takes its trade name from the Pancur Aji waterfall in West Kalimantan, Indonesian Borneo, where it was first found alongside Bucephalandra motleyana "Pancuraji" — the two are collected from the same location. It forms dark green, dense, well-branched fronds with a horizontal to slightly overhanging growth habit.
Care tip: Like other aquatic mosses, tie or attach Pancuraji Moss to driftwood, rock, or mesh rather than planting it in substrate — its rhizoids grip hardscape strongly once anchored, typically within 4–6 weeks.
Pancuraji Moss tolerates a range of water conditions and grows well under low to medium light without requiring CO2 injection, though moderate light and stable parameters bring out its fullest, most compact growth. It's forgiving enough for beginners while offering the lush, jungle-like texture experienced aquascapers look for in a specialty moss.
Its dense, dark green, horizontally spreading fronds make Pancuraji Moss especially effective for covering driftwood, rockwork, and backgrounds, where it forms a naturalistic, textured carpet over hardscape. It also supports biofilm and microfauna growth that benefits shrimp colonies and fry.
