Filtering and Purifying
hygger aquarium biochemical sponge filter is powered by an air pump that uses the water-lifting effect generated by rising bubbles and drives water flow through the filter sponge, which can effectively adsorb excreta and residual bait to achieve the purpose of filtering and purifying water quality for saltwater and freshwater aquariums.
Key Features of the Bubbler
① Oxygenation: An integrated plastic airstone delivers ample bubbles and a gentle water flow to provide oxygenation.
② Filtration: The dense biochemical cotton in the upper layer effectively absorbs impurities, pet waste, and debris. The circular concave design expands the filtration area, enhancing filtration efficiency.
③ Cultivation: The bottom chamber features bio-ceramic media, which promotes the growth of beneficial bacteria essential for aquarium health.
Ideal for Small to Medium-Sized Aquariums
This air-driven biochemical filter, measuring 2.9 inches in width and 3.7/5.5 inches in height, is ideally suited for 1 to 20-gallon tanks with a depth of less than 12″/15″. It is also ideal for low-flow applications, such as breeding and housing bettas, snails, shrimp, and more.
Maintenance and Filter Replacement
All the aquarium biochemical filter parts are designed to be easily detachable, facilitating assembly and disassembly. The filter comes with two reusable sponges. It is recommended to clean the filter assembly with tank water every 2 to 4 weeks, or whenever bubble production noticeably reduces. This routine cleaning ensures the filter’s ongoing efficiency.
Three Sizes for Choice
Small: 7.3cmW x 11.2cmH, it works pretty well for filtration for 5-91L small aquariums with under 40cm depth.
Medium: 7.3cmW x 16.5cmH, suggested for 91-250L medium-sized aquariums with under 50cm depth.
Large: 10cmW x 17.7cmH, suggested for 250-568L aquariums with under 67cm depth.
Usage Tips
- Take the spare sponge off the filter after out of the box.
- Keep a sponge to restore its fluffiness and install fixing buckles.
- Wash the filter to remove the dust before putting it in the aquarium.
- Connect the air pump and air tube (4mm) to the filter.
- Squeeze the sponge until it is full of water, making it sink into the bottom of the tank.
Note:
1. Before using the filter, rinse it thoroughly to remove any dust.
2. The bio-sponge filter must be connected to an air pump (the pump and air hose are not included with the filter).
3. Due to the two sponges being squished up together, please take them apart and loosen the sponge to restore its normal shape.
