Golden Lloydiella
Golden Lloydiella
Golden Lloydiella, botanically Lysimachia nummularia 'Aurea' or similar, is a bright European plant producing warm golden-yellow leaves that glow with an unusual warm luminosity under aquarium lighting — a genuinely rare and distinctive warm color in the aquarium plant world. It can be grown either submerged as an aquarium midground plant or emersed as a terrarium or paludarium ground cover, providing useful flexibility in application.
Care tip: Golden Lloydiella grows best in moderate lighting with CO₂ optional. Maintain temperatures of 64–77°F and pH 6.0–7.5. Regular fertilization supports healthy growth.
Growing to 4 to 10 inches, Golden Lloydiella is a compact foreground to midground plant that maintains its distinctive golden-yellow color across its full leaf surface — not just at the tips or margins. The consistent, all-over golden tone creates a uniquely warm and luminous visual effect that stands out dramatically alongside green and red aquarium plants. CO₂ supplementation supports the most compact, vibrant growth.
This easy plant grows in moderate lighting with CO₂ optional. The temperature range of 64 to 77°F reflects the European cool-temperate preference of this species — it performs best below 77°F and may struggle in very warm tropical tanks. A pH of 6.0 to 7.5 provides comfortable conditions. Regular fertilization maintains the vibrant golden coloration.
In the aquascape, Golden Lloydiella creates a uniquely golden-yellow foreground to midground accent whose all-over warm color provides a luminous, glowing highlight zone unavailable from virtually any other commonly cultivated aquarium plant. Against red and green plants the golden tone creates an extraordinary warm three-color palette. As the chart notes it is excellent for contrast planting — an accurate assessment of its primary aquascape value.
Golden Lloydiella is a uniquely golden-colored and botanically interesting European plant for cool-water aquariums and terrarium setups who want an unusually luminous warm-yellow color accent. Its distinctive golden tone makes it a valuable and naturally eye-catching contrast plant for any aquascape composition.
