Echinodorus peruensis

Echinodorus peruensis is a large, lush Peruvian Echinodorus producing impressive broad green leaves in a full, commanding rosette that creates a genuinely substantial background focal point in larger aquariums. The lush, healthy green of a well-grown peruensis in adequate space with good root nutrition is one of the most naturally beautiful large rosette presentations available from the Echinodorus genus.

Care tip: Echinodorus peruensis is a root feeder that benefits greatly from a nutrient-rich substrate or regular root tabs. Maintain temperatures of 72–82°F and pH 6.0–7.5. CO₂ is recommended for this variety.

Growing to 12 to 20 inches, peruensis is a large background plant for aquariums of 40 gallons or more. Ample root space in a nutrient-rich substrate and regular root tab feeding are the most important care investments — this species develops its most impressive size and the lushest leaf production with consistent substrate nutrition. Regular root feeding and adequate space are genuine requirements for best results.

This moderate plant grows in moderate to high lighting with CO₂ recommended. Temperatures between 72 and 82°F and a pH of 6.0 to 7.5 provide comfortable conditions. Root feeding is critical for developing the large, impressive leaf rosette this species is capable of producing. CO₂ improves growth rate and overall leaf quality.

In the aquascape, Echinodorus peruensis creates a lush, impressively scaled background centerpiece whose large green leaves provide substantial visual anchoring in larger compositions. In appropriate-sized aquariums with good root feeding it develops into one of the most naturally beautiful large background rosette plants in the hobby. The chart accurately notes that it needs root tabs and space to thrive.

Echinodorus peruensis is a lush, large-scale, and naturally beautiful Peruvian background sword for aquarists with spacious aquariums and a commitment to root feeding. Its impressive size potential and lush green character make it a deeply rewarding long-term background plant.
