Echinodorus Jaguar

Echinodorus Jaguar is a decorative hybrid sword plant producing distinctive spotted leaves whose patterning genuinely resembles a jaguar's coat — bold, irregular spots distributed across broad leaves in a naturally wild, organically patterned display. The spotted pattern is consistent, reliable, and immediately recognizable — one of the most charmingly patterned sword plants in the hobby and a perennial favorite among collectors.

Care tip: Echinodorus Jaguar is a root feeder that benefits greatly from a nutrient-rich substrate or regular root tabs. Maintain temperatures of 72–82°F and pH 6.0–7.5. CO₂ is optional for this variety.

Growing to 10 to 14 inches, Jaguar is a midground to background plant well suited to medium aquariums. The spotted pattern is most clearly visible in clean water under moderate lighting. Root tabs or enriched substrate support the best growth and the most vibrant spotted expression. The spotted character is a reliable genetic trait maintained across a range of growing conditions.

This easy plant grows under moderate lighting with CO₂ optional. Temperatures between 72 and 82°F and a pH of 6.0 to 7.5 provide comfortable conditions. Regular root feeding maintains the spotted pattern and healthy leaf production. Hybrid vigor ensures reliable, consistent performance. As the chart notes it is decorative and hardy for beginners — an accurate combination of qualities.

In the aquascape, Echinodorus Jaguar creates a charmingly patterned midground to background focal point whose jaguar-spotted leaves add natural, wild character and warm patterned color to planted compositions. The spotted leaves are most effective in prominent midground positions where the pattern can be clearly observed. It pairs naturally with plain-green plants where the spotting stands out most clearly.

Echinodorus Jaguar is a charmingly patterned and hardy hybrid sword for aquarists who want the wild, naturally spotted character of the jaguar pattern in a reliable, easy-care midground to background plant. Its distinctive spots and beginner-friendly nature make it a naturally lovable and consistently rewarding planted aquarium plant.
