Cherry Spot Rasbora
Cherry Spot Rasbora
Cherry Spot Rasbora (Rasbora rubrodorsalis) is named for the vivid cherry-red spot or marking on the dorsal area — rubrodorsalis means 'red-backed' in Latin. The silver to pale body with the prominent red dorsal marking creates a distinctive and attractive two-element color combination on a compact rasbora body.
Feeding & Care Tip: Sera Vipan Tropical Flakes and Hikari Micro Pellets make excellent daily staples. Supplement 2–3× per week with Hikari Frozen or Freeze-Dried Baby Brine Shrimp, Hikari Frozen or Freeze-Dried Tubifex Worms, or Hikari Vibra Bites. Feed small amounts 2–3 times daily.
Native to rivers and streams of Southeast Asia — the exact distribution is variable in trade sources but generally from the Indochina region. Soft to moderately soft water preferred.
Keep in groups of at least 8. The cherry-red dorsal marking is most vivid in well-conditioned fish in soft water. Peaceful and compatible with all standard community species.
A distinctively marked rasbora with an unusual dorsal coloration that stands out clearly against a plain silver body.
