Bucephalandra variegated 'marble'
Bucephalandra variegated 'marble'
Bucephalandra variegated 'marble' is a beautifully patterned variety whose wavy, ruffled leaves display distinct white and green marbling that gives each leaf a handcrafted, painterly appearance. The irregular marble pattern across the undulating leaf surface creates a plant of genuine rarity and visual interest — no two leaves are identical, and no two plants carry exactly the same combination of white and green across their foliage.
Planting tip: Bucephalandra variegated 'marble' can be planted with the rhizome resting at the substrate surface, or attached to driftwood, rock, or other hardscape at any position in the aquarium. Never fully bury the rhizome under substrate, as this will cause rot. If attaching to hardscape, use cotton thread or aquarium-safe adhesive to secure it, and the plant will anchor itself naturally over time.
As a Bornean Bucephalandra from Indonesia, the marble variety can be planted with the rhizome resting at the substrate surface or attached to driftwood or rock at any height in the aquarium. Never fully bury the rhizome. It grows well in low to moderate lighting without requiring CO₂ supplementation. Temperatures between 72 and 82°F and a pH of 6.0 to 7.5 provide comfortable growing conditions. Like all Bucephalandra, it can produce small, delicate white flowers both underwater and above the waterline.
Growing to 1 to 2 inches, this is a compact variety perfectly suited to foreground and hardscape attachment in tanks of any size. Regular liquid fertilization supports healthy leaf production and maintains the vibrancy of the white marbling.
In the aquascape, Bucephalandra variegated 'marble' creates a naturally bright foreground accent that lightens the composition without the need for high-light plants. The white and green marbling on wavy leaves is most beautiful when displayed on dark driftwood or dark stone where the contrast between the patterned leaves and the hardscape surface is maximized.
Bucephalandra variegated 'marble' is a rare and beautiful plant that delivers collector-quality patterning in an easy, compact form. A genuine treasure for the planted aquarium.
