Bucephalandra Titan
Bucephalandra Titan
Bucephalandra Titan may carry a large name, but this compact variety delivers its impact through refined detail rather than size — featuring ruffled leaves and a distinctive reddish stem that give the plant a layered, textured appearance full of botanical character. The combination of ruffled leaf margins and warm stem color creates a plant that rewards close inspection with increasing visual complexity.
Planting tip: Bucephalandra Titan can be planted with the rhizome resting at the substrate surface, or attached to driftwood, rock, or other hardscape at any position in the aquarium. Never fully bury the rhizome under substrate, as this will cause rot. If attaching to hardscape, use cotton thread or aquarium-safe adhesive to secure it, and the plant will anchor itself naturally over time.
Like all Bucephalandra from Indonesia, Titan can be planted with the rhizome resting at the substrate surface or attached to driftwood or stone at any height in the aquarium. Never fully bury the rhizome. This easy-care variety grows well in low to moderate lighting with optional CO₂ supplementation. Temperatures between 72 and 82°F and a pH of 6.0 to 7.5 provide comfortable conditions for healthy growth. Like all Bucephalandra, Titan can produce small, delicate white flowers both underwater and above the waterline.
Titan grows to 2 to 3 inches in height, making it an excellent foreground to midground plant. Regular liquid fertilization supports the production of new ruffled leaves and maintains the color quality of the reddish stems.
In the aquascape, Bucephalandra Titan is versatile and adaptable — equally at home in nano tanks as a featured midground plant and in larger aquascapes as a detailed foreground accent. The ruffled leaves and reddish stems pair naturally with fine mosses and smooth-leaved Anubias, where the leaf texture and stem color create a naturalistic, organic composition. Shrimp keepers appreciate the ruffled leaf surfaces as ideal grazing and resting spots.
Bucephalandra Titan is a reliably beautiful, easy-care variety that delivers consistent botanical interest. Its ruffled leaves and warm stem color make it a classic choice in any Bucephalandra collection.
