Bucephalandra Silver Eagle
Bucephalandra Silver Eagle
Bucephalandra Silver Eagle is a visually striking variety featuring glossy, bright green ruffled leaves with a distinctive silvery or powdery shimmer across the upper surface, often revealing red or blue tinges on the leaf underside. This combination of ruffled texture, bright green color, and silver shimmer creates a plant that captures and reflects light beautifully — a sharpness and brilliance in its appearance that fully justifies its eagle-inspired name.
Planting tip: Bucephalandra Silver Eagle can be planted with the rhizome resting at the substrate surface, or attached to driftwood, rock, or other hardscape at any position in the aquarium. Never fully bury the rhizome under substrate, as this will cause rot. If attaching to hardscape, use cotton thread or aquarium-safe adhesive to secure it, and the plant will anchor itself naturally over time.
Silver Eagle originates from Indonesia and can be planted with the rhizome resting at the substrate surface or attached to hardscape at any position in the aquarium. Never fully bury the rhizome. It grows well in low to moderate lighting with optional CO₂ supplementation. Temperatures between 72 and 82°F and a pH range of 6.0 to 7.2 suit this variety. Like all Bucephalandra, Silver Eagle can produce small, delicate white flowers both underwater and above the waterline.
Growing to 1 to 3 inches, Silver Eagle is well suited to foreground and attached hardscape placement in tanks of many sizes. The ruffled leaf margins catch light from multiple angles, creating a dynamic shimmer effect that changes as viewing angle and lighting shift throughout the day.
In the aquascape, Bucephalandra Silver Eagle creates a focal point of brightness and texture in the foreground or on featured hardscape. Its bright green and silver coloring lightens areas of the layout that might otherwise be dominated by darker plants, and the ruffled leaf texture provides organic contrast to smooth-leaved plants and polished stone.
Bucephalandra Silver Eagle is a plant of genuine brilliance — literally and figuratively. Its shimmering surface and ruffled leaves make it a foreground jewel in any planted aquarium.
