Bucephalandra Green Jade
Bucephalandra Green Jade
Bucephalandra Green Jade is an elegant variety featuring glossy green leaves with a faint jade tint that gives the plant a cool, gemstone-like quality in the aquarium. The subtle jade coloration is most visible in the reflective quality of the glossy leaf surface, where the cool green-jade tone interacts with aquarium lighting to produce a refined, luminous effect. It is a plant of understated botanical luxury.
Planting tip: Bucephalandra Green Jade can be planted with the rhizome resting at the substrate surface, or attached to driftwood, rock, or other hardscape at any position in the aquarium. Never fully bury the rhizome under substrate, as this will cause rot. If attaching to hardscape, use cotton thread or aquarium-safe adhesive to secure it, and the plant will anchor itself naturally over time.
As a Bornean Bucephalandra from Indonesia, Green Jade can be planted with the rhizome resting at the substrate surface or attached to hardscape at any position in the aquarium. Never fully bury the rhizome. This easy-care variety grows well in low to moderate lighting with optional CO₂ supplementation. Temperatures between 72 and 82°F and a pH range of 6.0 to 7.4 provide comfortable conditions. Like all Bucephalandra, Green Jade can produce small, delicate white flowers both underwater and above the waterline. The chart notes this variety is particularly suitable for shaded sections of hardscape — a reminder that its cool jade quality is most appreciated in lower-light zones.
Growing to 2 to 4 inches, Green Jade is suited to foreground and midground placement on a range of hardscape types. Regular liquid fertilization supports the glossy leaf surface and the characteristic jade tint.
In the aquascape, Bucephalandra Green Jade provides a refined, gemstone-quality green in the foreground that works beautifully in naturalistic and minimalist designs. The jade tint pairs naturally with cool-toned stone and pale driftwood, and creates a calming color note in compositions that might otherwise be dominated by warmer tones.
Bucephalandra Green Jade is a plant of quiet gemstone beauty — glossy, cool, and consistently elegant in any planted aquarium.
