Bucephalandra green broad leaf
Bucephalandra green broad leaf
Bucephalandra green broad leaf is an accessible and reliable variety that delivers the classic Bucephalandra experience in a clean, broad-leaved form. The wide, smooth green leaves attached to driftwood or stone create a tidy, established appearance that suits a wide range of aquascape styles, from naturalistic layouts to more structured compositions. For aquarists new to Bucephalandra, this broad-leaved variety provides an excellent introduction to the genus.
Planting tip: Bucephalandra green broad leaf can be planted with the rhizome resting at the substrate surface, or attached to driftwood, rock, or other hardscape at any position in the aquarium. Never fully bury the rhizome under substrate, as this will cause rot. If attaching to hardscape, use cotton thread or aquarium-safe adhesive to secure it, and the plant will anchor itself naturally over time.
Like all Bucephalandra from Indonesia, green broad leaf can be planted with the rhizome resting at the substrate surface or attached to driftwood or stone at any position in the aquarium. Never fully bury the rhizome. This easy-care variety is among the most forgiving in the genus, growing well in low to moderate lighting without CO₂ supplementation. Temperatures between 72 and 82°F and a pH range of 6.0 to 7.5 cover a broad range of aquarium conditions. Like all Bucephalandra, it can produce small, delicate white flowers both underwater and above the waterline.
Growing to 2 to 4 inches, green broad leaf occupies a useful foreground to midground position in most aquariums. Regular liquid fertilization supports steady, healthy growth and maintains the clean green color of the broad leaves. The larger leaf surface area creates excellent surface area for biofilm development, which shrimp particularly appreciate.
In the aquascape, Bucephalandra green broad leaf provides clean, uncluttered green form in the foreground or on midground hardscape. Its broad leaves create visual mass and shelter for fish and shrimp, and pair naturally with fine-textured mosses and compact foreground plants. In mixed Bucephalandra displays it provides a solid green anchor alongside more colorful or iridescent companion varieties.
Bucephalandra green broad leaf is a dependable, attractive, and beginner-friendly variety that delivers the full Bucephalandra experience in its most accessible form. A natural foundation plant for any Bucephalandra collection.
