Bucephalandra Grappa Red Mini
Bucephalandra Grappa Red Mini
Bucephalandra Grappa Red Mini is a compact, reddish-hued variety perfectly sized for small aquascapes and nano tank environments. The warm red tones that develop in the foliage under appropriate conditions give this miniature plant a color warmth unusual among small foreground plants, making it a valuable accent for aquarists looking to introduce genuine red tones to the lower levels of the aquascape without the demanding care requirements of typical high-light red plants.
Planting tip: Bucephalandra Grappa Red Mini can be planted with the rhizome resting at the substrate surface, or attached to driftwood, rock, or other hardscape at any position in the aquarium. Never fully bury the rhizome under substrate, as this will cause rot. If attaching to hardscape, use cotton thread or aquarium-safe adhesive to secure it, and the plant will anchor itself naturally over time.
As a Bornean species from Indonesia, Grappa Red Mini can be planted with the rhizome resting at the substrate surface or attached to hardscape at any height in the aquarium. Never fully bury the rhizome. This moderate-difficulty variety grows well in low to moderate lighting with optional CO₂ supplementation. Temperatures between 72 and 82°F and a pH of 6.0 to 7.2 provide comfortable conditions. Like all Bucephalandra, Grappa Red Mini can produce small, delicate white flowers both underwater and above the waterline.
Growing to just 1 to 2 inches, Grappa Red Mini is an ideal nano tank plant and precision foreground accent. Regular liquid fertilization, particularly with iron-containing micronutrient formulas, supports the development and maintenance of the reddish coloration in the compact leaves.
In the aquascape, Bucephalandra Grappa Red Mini provides warm foreground color on a scale appropriate for nano tanks and small detailed compositions. Pairing it with blue-green or cool-toned plants maximizes the warm-cool color contrast. Grouped with other compact Bucephalandra on a small piece of detailed driftwood or rock, it creates a miniature landscape of color and texture that is genuinely impressive in a small scale.
Bucephalandra Grappa Red Mini is a precise, colorful miniature for aquarists who want red tones in the foreground without high-light demands. Small but remarkably impactful.
