Bucephalandra brownie 'Blue'
Bucephalandra brownie 'Blue'
Bucephalandra brownie 'Blue' is a tiny brownie-group variety with metallic blue tones that become most vivid under stronger lighting, making it one of the most color-responsive of the miniature Bucephalandra cultivars. The metallic blue quality of the leaf surface creates an extraordinary shimmer effect that is especially striking in nano tanks where the plant can be observed closely.
Planting tip: Bucephalandra brownie 'Blue' can be planted with the rhizome resting at the substrate surface, or attached to driftwood, rock, or other hardscape at any position in the aquarium. Never fully bury the rhizome under substrate, as this will cause rot. If attaching to hardscape, use cotton thread or aquarium-safe adhesive to secure it, and the plant will anchor itself naturally over time.
As a brownie-type Bucephalandra from Indonesia, Blue can be planted with the rhizome resting at the substrate surface or attached to rock or wood at any position in the aquarium. Never fully bury the rhizome. This easy-care variety grows well in low to moderate lighting without CO₂ supplementation, though stronger light produces the most vivid metallic blue expression. Temperatures between 72 and 82°F and a pH range of 6.0 to 7.5 provide comfortable conditions. Like all Bucephalandra, brownie 'Blue' can produce small, delicate white flowers both underwater and above the waterline.
Growing to just 1 to 2 inches, brownie 'Blue' is perfectly sized for nano tanks and detailed hardscape work on small pieces of wood and stone. Regular liquid fertilization and consistent water quality support both the health and the color quality of the metallic blue foliage.
In the aquascape, Bucephalandra brownie 'Blue' is a spectacular miniature accent plant whose metallic blue shimmer creates visual impact disproportionate to its tiny size. In nano tanks it commands immediate attention; in larger layouts it creates precise color accents in the foreground. Pairing it with brownie 'Purple' on the same piece of hardscape creates a warm-cool color dialogue in miniature that is one of the most beautiful effects in small-scale aquascaping.
Bucephalandra brownie 'Blue' is a tiny plant with a dazzling metallic personality. For nano tanks and detailed compositions, it is a genuine jewel.
