Bucephalandra Artemis
Bucephalandra Artemis
Bucephalandra Artemis is a refined variety featuring deep green leaves with a slight sheen that gives the plant a clean, polished appearance well suited to any aquascape style. Named for the Greek goddess of the hunt, Artemis carries a quiet, focused elegance in its appearance — deep green, gently shimmering leaves on a compact, well-structured plant that delivers consistent, reliable beauty without demanding special care.
Planting tip: Bucephalandra Artemis can be planted with the rhizome resting at the substrate surface, or attached to driftwood, rock, or other hardscape at any position in the aquarium. Never fully bury the rhizome under substrate, as this will cause rot. If attaching to hardscape, use cotton thread or aquarium-safe adhesive to secure it, and the plant will anchor itself naturally over time.
As a Bornean Bucephalandra from Indonesia, Artemis can be planted with the rhizome resting at the substrate surface or attached to wood or stone at any position in the aquarium. Never fully bury the rhizome. This easy-care variety grows well in low to moderate lighting with optional CO₂ supplementation. Temperatures between 72 and 82°F and a pH range of 6.0 to 7.5 provide comfortable growing conditions. Like all Bucephalandra, Artemis can produce small, delicate white flowers both underwater and above the waterline.
Growing to 2 to 3 inches, Artemis is suited to foreground and midground placement on hardscape across a range of aquarium sizes. Regular liquid fertilization supports consistent leaf production and the maintenance of the slight leaf sheen that characterizes this variety.
In the aquascape, Bucephalandra Artemis provides clean, polished green form that works well in both naturalistic and minimalist compositions. The slight leaf sheen adds a subtle luminosity that catches the eye without demanding center stage. It pairs beautifully with more colorful or iridescent Bucephalandra varieties as a calming green foil, and works equally well in mixed Anubias and Cryptocoryne plantings in low-tech setups.
Bucephalandra Artemis is a dependable, quietly beautiful variety that delivers consistent quality in any planted aquarium. Its clean appearance, easy care, and versatile compatibility make it a reliable foundation plant for any Bucephalandra collection.
