Bleeding Blue Tetra
Bleeding Blue Tetra
Bleeding Blue Tetra (Hyphessobrycon margitae) combines a warm red to orange-red 'bleeding heart' body marking with blue iridescent highlights — the blue iridescence over the warm red base creates an unusual two-element color combination. Named for Margit, the collector who first brought specimens from Peru.
Feeding & Care Tip: Sera Vipan Tropical Flakes and Hikari Micro Pellets make excellent daily staples. Supplement 2–3× per week with Hikari Frozen or Freeze-Dried Bloodworms, Hikari Frozen or Freeze-Dried Baby Brine Shrimp, or Hikari Vibra Bites. Feed small amounts 2–3 times daily.
Native to the upper Amazon in Peru — soft, slightly acidic water.
Keep in groups of at least 8. The blue and red combination is most vivid in soft water. Peaceful community tetra.
An uncommonly available Peruvian tetra with an unusual color combination.
