Black Line Tetra
Black Line Tetra
Black Line Tetra (Hyphessobrycon scholzei) is a classic and widely kept tetra — a clean, elegant fish with a bold black lateral stripe running the full length of the body from nose to tail on a pale silver background. Named for ichthyologist Erich Scholze.
Feeding & Care Tip: Sera Vipan Tropical Flakes and Hikari Micro Pellets make excellent daily staples. Supplement 2–3× per week with Hikari Frozen or Freeze-Dried Bloodworms, Hikari Frozen or Freeze-Dried Baby Brine Shrimp, or Hikari Vibra Bites. Feed small amounts 2–3 times daily.
Native to the Amazon basin in Pará state, Brazil — a widely distributed and adaptable Hyphessobrycon. One of the more hardy members of the genus.
Keep in groups of at least 8. The bold full-length black stripe creates a clean, graphic schooling display. Compatible with a wide range of water conditions.
A classic and reliable aquarium tetra — the bold black stripe looks excellent in both planted and standard aquariums.
