Anubias Barteri Nana marble
Anubias Barteri Nana marble
Anubias Barteri Nana marble is a beautifully variegated cultivar of Anubias barteri nana, featuring leaves decorated with irregular patches and streaks of white, cream, and pale green against a darker green base. The marbled patterning is unpredictable and unique on each leaf, giving this plant an organic, painterly quality that makes it a prized addition to planted aquariums and collector setups.
Planting tip: Never bury the rhizome in substrate — Anubias Barteri Nana marble should always be attached to driftwood, rock, or other hardscape with the rhizome fully exposed. Use cotton thread or aquarium-safe adhesive to secure it, and the plant will anchor itself naturally over time.
The marble cultivar inherits all of the legendary toughness of the Anubias genus. It grows comfortably in low lighting without requiring CO₂ supplementation. Temperatures between 72 and 82°F and a pH of 6.0 to 7.5 are ideal. Liquid fertilization, particularly formulas containing micronutrients, supports the health and clarity of the variegated coloring. As with other variegated Anubias, avoid excessively bright light, which can bleach the paler portions of the leaves.
Attach Anubias Barteri Nana marble to driftwood or stone with the rhizome fully exposed. Never bury the rhizome in substrate. The plant grows slowly, which is a practical advantage in maintaining its decorative appearance — new variegated leaves emerge gradually and the plant rarely becomes overgrown.
In the aquascape, Anubias Barteri Nana marble works best as an accent plant positioned where its patterned leaves can be clearly seen and appreciated. The marbled leaves pair beautifully with solid green plants — Java Fern, dark Bucephalandra, mosses — where the contrast between patterned and plain foliage creates visual interest. A genuine gem of collector-quality patterning in a classic hardscape plant.
