Description

Amydrium Medium Varigated

Amydrium Medium was described by Nicolson and ranges widely across Southeast Asia — Borneo, Java, Maluku, Myanmar, Peninsular Malaysia, the Philippines, Sumatra, and Thailand — growing as a climbing, primarily epiphytic aroid. This variegated form shows irregular cream to white patches across the green foliage. Like other Amydrium, it's distinguished within its tribe by having two ovules per ovary and characteristically heart-shaped seeds, and its leaves often develop the perforations typical of the genus.

Note: as a freshly imported bare-root plant, this specimen typically arrives with just a few leaves — the photo shows a more mature, fuller specimen for reference.

Care tip: Give it a pole or trellis to climb — like most Amydrium, this species produces larger, more mature, perforated leaves once it has a vertical support to ascend.

Give it bright indirect light, a well-draining aroid mix, and water once the top of the soil has dried. As with most climbing aroids, humidity and consistent warmth support the best leaf development.

One of the more widely distributed Amydrium species across Southeast Asia — a good entry point into the genus for collectors, with real natural range spanning from mainland Asia through the Indonesian archipelago.
