Alocasia Beccarii Green Sarawak
Alocasia Beccarii was described by Engler and is native to northwestern Borneo, growing as a small, low-elevation subshrub. This "Green Sarawak" form shows the species' signature small, entirely peltate (shield-shaped), more or less elliptic leaf blade in a rich, straightforward green.
Note: as a freshly imported bare-root plant, this specimen typically arrives with just a few leaves — the photo shows a more mature, fuller specimen for reference.
Care tip: Its compact, low-elevation habitat means this species prefers consistent warmth over the cooler conditions some montane Alocasia relatives can tolerate.
Alocasia Beccarii is part of a small complex of similar-looking, entirely peltate-leaved West Malesian species — distinguished from its close relatives by its condensed stem, secondary veins arising from the main ribs, its comparatively small size, and its preference for lowland (rather than montane) habitat. Give it bright indirect light, a well-draining aroid mix, and consistent warmth and humidity.
A genuinely small, true-species Bornean Alocasia for collectors who want an authentic named plant in a more compact footprint than many of its larger relatives.
