Piper Nigrum is the true black pepper plant — the source of the world's most widely traded spice — native to India and Sri Lanka, where it grows as a climbing vine or small tree. This "Albo Variegated" form carries the species' classic glossy, egg-shaped leaves marked with irregular cream-white patches alongside the standard green.

Note: as a freshly imported bare-root plant, this specimen typically arrives with just a few leaves — the photo shows a more mature, fuller specimen for reference.

Care tip: Variegated sections lack chlorophyll, so give this form bright but indirect light — enough to sustain the plant without scorching the cream patches.

Give it bright, indirect light, moderate and consistent watering, and a support to climb — in habitat this species can become a substantial vine or even a small tree given time. It's the same plant behind the peppercorns found in any kitchen, grown here for ornamental variegation rather than spice production.
