Hoya Revoluta was validly described by Hooker in 1883 from fertile specimens collected in Malacca and Singapore, ranging naturally from Peninsular Thailand through western Malesia. It grows as a climbing epiphyte or lithophyte and anchors its own well-studied species complex, defined by fleshy, moderately to very thick leaves — often with a thickened margin — and a distinctive backward-curving (revolute) corolla.
Note: as a freshly imported bare-root plant, this specimen typically arrives with just a few leaves — the photo shows a more mature, fuller specimen for reference.
Care tip: Historically recorded as common in lowland and hill forest throughout Peninsular Malaysia — a genuinely widespread, adaptable species that tolerates a range of home growing conditions.
Give it bright indirect light, a well-draining epiphyte mix, and allow it to dry between waterings. Its corona lobes have distinctive bilobed outer processes, a detail botanists use to separate it from its closest relative, Hoya micrantha. As one of the more taxonomically thoroughly revised Hoya complexes, it has a long documented history in the literature dating back to the earliest colonial-era botanical collections in the region.
