Micro Dragon Goby
Micro Dragon Goby (Schismatogobius ampluvinculus) is a fascinating and unusual nano goby from Southeast Asian hillstreams. The pale, semi-transparent body with complex dark patterning and relatively large head create a dragon-like appearance at nano scale — combined with the species' tendency to perch on rocks and substrate in a characteristically alert, upright posture. A genuine specialist's fish.
Feeding & Care Tip: Hikari Micro Pellets crushed and soaked make the best staple. Supplement with Hikari Frozen or Freeze-Dried Baby Brine Shrimp and Hikari Frozen or Freeze-Dried Tubifex Worms placed near the fish's resting spot. Feed in a calm environment — this species is a slow, deliberate feeder.
Native to clear, fast-flowing hillstreams of Southeast Asia — the Philippines and surrounding islands. Inhabits the substrate zone of rocky streams, clinging to rocks and gravel in strong current. Well-oxygenated water with good flow and rocky substrate are essential.
Keep in pairs or very small groups. Males territorial — provide adequate space and structure. Keep only with other small, peaceful species adapted to fast-flowing, well-oxygenated conditions. A specialist hillstream setup is ideal.
A rare and genuinely unusual goby for dedicated hillstream aquarium enthusiasts. The 'micro dragon' appearance — alert posture, large head, complex patterning — is unmistakable and carries real collector appeal.
