Glowlight Rasbora

Glowlight Rasbora (Trigonostigma hengeli) is a close relative of the Harlequin with a more translucent body and a distinctive vivid iridescent orange stripe above the narrow black wedge marking. The glowing quality in good light gives this species its name.

Feeding & Care Tip: Hikari Micro Pellets make an excellent daily staple. Supplement 2–3× per week with Hikari Frozen or Freeze-Dried Baby Brine Shrimp or Hikari Frozen or Freeze-Dried Tubifex Worms. Feed small amounts 2–3 times daily.

Native to Sumatra and the Malay Peninsula, this species inhabits blackwater peat swamps and slow-flowing streams. It has slightly more demanding water requirements than the Harlequin, preferring softer, more acidic conditions for its best color.

Keep in groups of at least six, preferably ten or more. The iridescent orange stripe intensifies considerably in a well-established large group. Completely peaceful and mixes well with other small, non-aggressive species.

An excellent choice for aquarists who love the classic harlequin-style pattern but want something a little more unusual and delicate.
