Dwarf Fire Rasbora
Dwarf Fire Rasbora (Horadandia brittani) is a rare and unusual nano fish from coastal floodplains of South India. Males develop a delicate orange-red to copper coloration. The species was only formally recognized as distinct in 2013 and remains genuinely uncommon in the aquarium hobby — a fish from the Indian subcontinent rather than the more typical Southeast Asian origin.
Feeding & Care Tip: Start juveniles on Sera Micron Nature and transition to Sera Vipan Baby flakes as they grow. Supplement 2–3× per week with Hikari Frozen or Freeze-Dried Baby Brine Shrimp. Feed small amounts 2–3 times daily.
In the aquarium, a planted setup with soft to medium, slightly acidic water and stable conditions produces the best coloration and health. A dark substrate and gentle filtration are beneficial.
Keep in groups of at least eight. These are peaceful species suitable for nano community aquariums with other small, non-aggressive fish of similar size. Larger groups produce more confident behavior and richer color.
A rewarding addition to the planted aquarium, offering uncommon coloration and rarity value in a well-managed community setup.
