Albino Pygmy Corydoras
Albino Pygmy Corydoras (Corydoras pygmaeus) is the albino form of the beloved Pygmy Corydoras. The standard black lateral stripe is absent or very faint, replaced by a pale, almost translucent white to cream body with pink-red eyes. The mid-water schooling behavior and active, social personality of the standard form are fully retained.
Feeding & Care Tip: As a mid-water feeder, Hikari Micro Pellets are the preferred daily staple. Sera Vipachips Tropical Wafers crushed fine make a good alternative. Supplement 2–3× per week with Hikari Frozen or Freeze-Dried Baby Brine Shrimp. Albino fish can be more sensitive to bright lighting — provide shaded areas or floating plants.
Care requirements are identical to the standard Pygmy Corydoras. Soft, slightly acidic to neutral water with a planted environment, fine sand substrate, and gentle filtration. The pale coloration is particularly attractive in a planted tank with dark substrate, where the white body and red eyes catch the light beautifully.
Keep in groups of at least ten. Particularly striking when kept alongside the standard Pygmy Corydoras — the pale albino forms create a vivid contrast with the standard black-striped fish within the same school. Completely peaceful with all non-predatory species.
Fine sand substrate and pristine water quality are essential. Albino fish may be slightly more sensitive to sudden light changes — maintain stable, gentle lighting.
