Description

Tree Trunk Wood — miniature forests, tree-shaped wood for depth-rich submerged or emerged layouts. Ideal for crafting natural forest scenes and layouts with a strong sense of depth and visual presence.

Tree Trunk Wood is a unique hardscape material that offers the full silhouette of a miniature tree, complete with a defined trunk and root base. Perfect for emerged or submerged forest compositions, this wood brings a strong vertical dimension and immersive natural storytelling to aquascapes, terrariums, and paludariums. Its distinct tree-like form instantly adds realism and structure, enhancing the perception of depth and scale in your habitat. Whether used as a single focal point or in a group to simulate dense woodland, Tree Trunk Wood transforms simple layouts into captivating dioramas.

Naturally pale brown to yellowish in tone, it blends beautifully with greenery, mosses, and fine substrates. Each piece is organically shaped and one of a kind, offering both visual interest and functional shelter for inhabitants.

The WIO difference: We hand-select wood that tells a story — pieces that inspire immersion and elevate natural design.

Key Points

  • True Tree Shape: Complete tree-trunk silhouette with detailed roots
  • Layout Impact: Creates forest scenes with strong verticality and natural depth
  • Natural Color: Pale brown to yellowish tone complements green and earthy palettes
  • Functional Form: Offers shelter and anchoring points for mosses or epiphytes
  • Versatile: Ideal for aquariums, paludariums, and terrariums
  • Packaging: Sold by piece — available in Small (S), Medium (M), and Large (L)
  • Origin: Naturally aged, untreated, and ready for scaping

Preparation & Handling

  • Rinse Recommended: Rinse each piece under water or brush gently to remove dust before use
  • Curing Optional: For livestock setups, a 24–48 hour soak in warm water is still recommended
  • Gradual Introduction: Introduce slowly in small aquariums and monitor parameters

Initial Buoyancy

  • Wood may float initially — soak for up to a month or secure temporarily using rocks, anchors, or WIO ScapeGlue until fully waterlogged

Water Monitoring

  • Releases little to no tannins — enjoy crystal-clear water from day one
  • May still subtly influence pH; maintain kH ≥ 3 for a stable buffer
  • Test pH, kH, and gH weekly during the first few weeks
  • Biofilm formation is natural and beneficial — it will diminish over time or can be removed manually
