Pink Lemonade Tetra
Pink Lemonade Tetra
Pink Lemonade Tetra (Hyphessobrycon itaparicensis) is a charming tetra with a pastel two-tone color scheme — pink to rosy-pink body with lemon-yellow accents in the fins creating the color combination that inspired the food-themed common name. Native to coastal drainages of Bahia state in northeastern Brazil, named for the Itaparica island area.
Feeding & Care Tip: Sera Vipan Tropical Flakes and Hikari Micro Pellets make excellent daily staples. Supplement 2–3× per week with Hikari Frozen or Freeze-Dried Bloodworms, Hikari Frozen or Freeze-Dried Baby Brine Shrimp, or Hikari Vibra Bites. Feed small amounts 2–3 times daily.
Native to coastal rivers of Bahia state, northeastern Atlantic slope drainages. Soft to moderately soft water preferred. A relatively recent addition to the hobby.
Keep in groups of at least 8. The pastel pink and lemon coloration is most vivid in well-conditioned fish in soft, slightly acidic water.
A distinctively and unusually colored Hyphessobrycon — the pastel combination is genuinely unusual among tetras.
