Golden Pristella Tetra
Golden Pristella Tetra
Golden Pristella Tetra (Pristella maxillaris) is the golden form of the Pristella — the standard fish is already striking with its transparent body and vivid yellow, black, and white dorsal and anal fins; the golden form adds a warm golden-yellow body tone. Notably, this is one of the very few tetras that can tolerate mild brackish water.
Feeding & Care Tip: Sera Vipan Tropical Flakes and Hikari Micro Pellets make excellent daily staples. Supplement 2–3× per week with Hikari Frozen or Freeze-Dried Bloodworms, Hikari Frozen or Freeze-Dried Baby Brine Shrimp, or Hikari Vibra Bites. Feed small amounts 2–3 times daily.
Native to coastal rivers of Venezuela, Guyana, and Trinidad — an exceptionally euryhaline tetra occurring across a wide range of salinity. One of the most broadly compatible tetras available.
Keep in groups of at least 8. Extraordinarily adaptable — one of the few tetras that tolerates hard, alkaline water and even mild brackish conditions.
An excellent beginner tetra — reliable hardiness and broad compatibility with warm gold body coloration.
