Colombian Gold Tetra
Colombian Gold Tetra
Colombian Gold Tetra (Hemigrammus saizi) is a warm golden-yellow tetra from the Meta River drainage of Colombia — a rarely seen and underappreciated species with clean, warm body coloration and vivid red-orange eye coloring. Named for collector Saiz.
Feeding & Care Tip: Sera Vipan Tropical Flakes and Hikari Micro Pellets make excellent daily staples. Supplement 2–3× per week with Hikari Frozen or Freeze-Dried Bloodworms, Hikari Frozen or Freeze-Dried Baby Brine Shrimp, or Hikari Vibra Bites. Feed small amounts 2–3 times daily.
Native to the Meta River drainage in Colombia — clearwater streams with moderate current and soft to moderately hard water. Relatively rarely available in the trade.
Keep in groups of at least 8. The warm golden body is most vivid against darker substrate. Compatible with peaceful community species of similar size.
A collector find — rarely available with warm golden coloration that stands out in a mixed tetra community.
