Begonia Roseopunctata was described by Ruth Kiew in 2015 in her book Begonias of Borneo, part of a wave of new Begonia species documented from Sarawak in the 2010s. Its species name — "pink-spotted" — describes exactly what sets it apart: distinctive pink macules scattered across the leaf surface, a genuinely eye-catching pattern within the genus.
