Anubias Barteri Glabra Minima

Anubias Barteri Glabra Minima is one of the smallest cultivars in the Anubias barteri complex, producing compact, narrow-leaved growth that makes it an ideal rhizome plant for detailed hardscape work on wood or rocks. Growing to 3 to 6 inches, it offers a useful middle ground between the truly miniature nana petite forms and the standard midground barteri varieties.

Planting tip: Never bury the rhizome in substrate — Anubias Barteri Glabra Minima should always be attached to driftwood, rock, or other hardscape with the rhizome fully exposed. Use cotton thread or aquarium-safe adhesive to secure it, and the plant will anchor itself naturally over time.

Care for Anubias Barteri Glabra Minima is as simple and forgiving as any Anubias. It adapts well to low to moderate lighting, requires no CO₂ supplementation, and thrives in temperatures between 72 and 82°F with a pH range of 6.0 to 7.5. Low CO₂ needs and compact narrow leaves make it ideally suited to rocks and driftwood across all tank sizes. Regular liquid fertilization supports healthy leaf production.

As with all Anubias, the rhizome of Glabra Minima must be kept exposed above the substrate. Attach it to small pieces of hardscape — detailed stones, fine branches of driftwood — using thread or aquarium adhesive. Its compact size makes it ideal for spots where larger plants would be completely out of proportion.

In the aquascape, Anubias Barteri Glabra Minima excels in nano tanks and as detail work on featured hardscape in larger aquariums. Pairing it alongside other miniature plants like Anubias nana petite, small mosses, and tiny Bucephalandra varieties creates a beautifully layered small-scale composition. Shrimp tanks are a natural home for this plant. One of the most charming compact Anubias cultivars available.
