Good to Know — choosing a size & mesh: Fine mesh is the better choice for nano fish, fry, and shrimp, where standard mesh can snag delicate fins or let small bodies slip through; standard mesh works well for larger, sturdier community fish and drains water faster when scooping. Match the net width to the fish you’re netting and the width of your aquarium — too small and you’ll be chasing fish around the glass, too large and it’s hard to maneuver. The long-handle option is worth the extra reach in taller or deeper tanks. We carry this net in several sizes (3”–8”) in both standard and fine mesh.
A Handy Tip: Wet the net before use — a damp net is gentler on fins and slime coats than a dry one. For skittish or fragile fish, herding them into a cup with the net rather than scooping directly is often the least stressful approach.
