Schismatoglottis Tecturata anchors its own species complex within the genus — the "Tecturata Group" — reviewed and revised by Boyce and Wong, part of an ongoing series of studies on Bornean Schismatoglottideae. This particular plant was previously circulated under the name "Pudenda," reflecting how identification within this complex has shifted as botanists have refined the group's boundaries, including the description of the related species Schismatoglottis evelyniae.
Note: as a freshly imported bare-root plant, this specimen typically arrives with just a few leaves — the photo shows a more mature, fuller specimen for reference.
Care tip: Watch the leaves for a cue — they droop noticeably when the plant is thirsty and perk back up quickly once watered.
Give it low to medium indirect light, an airy, well-draining aroid mix, and water once the top layer of soil has dried. As with all Schismatoglottis, leaves have no scent when cut, distinguishing the genus from the superficially similar Homalomena.
Part of an actively studied Bornean species complex, this plant reflects the genuinely ongoing nature of Schismatoglottis taxonomy — names and boundaries within groups like Tecturata continue to be refined as new fieldwork and specimens come to light.
