Aridarum Caulescens belongs to Aridarum, a genus endemic entirely to Borneo and made up exclusively of rheophytes — plants specially adapted to grow directly in the path of fast-flowing streams and waterfalls. Its flexible, willow-like or rounded leaves ("Round Leaf" in the trade) can withstand strong currents without damage, an adaptation shared across the whole genus.
Note: as a freshly imported bare-root plant, this specimen typically arrives with just a few leaves — the photo shows a more mature, fuller specimen for reference.
Care tip: As a true rheophyte, this species wants constant moisture and excellent water flow around its roots — a paludarium or bog-style setup with running or frequently changed water suits it far better than a standard houseplant pot.
Give it deep shade to low light, constant moisture, and a mineral, fast-draining substrate that still stays wet — mimicking the sandstone or shale streambeds this genus grows on in the wild. Aridarum are primarily found from lowland to lower montane, consistently wet, humid forest, and dislike drying out even briefly.
A genuine Bornean stream specialist and a real conversation piece for paludarium and vivarium keepers — few houseplants are this specifically adapted to living directly in moving water.
