Anadendrum Montanum

Anadendrum Montanum was described by Schott and ranges across Yunnan, Indochina, Java, Sulawesi, and the Philippines. It's an epiphytic aroid that creeps against tree trunks or over boulders using adhesive roots, part of a genus of roughly 15 accepted species native to China and Southeast Asia within the same subfamily as Monstera and Rhaphidophora.

Note: as a freshly imported bare-root plant, this specimen typically arrives with just a few leaves — the photo shows a more mature, fuller specimen for reference.

Care tip: Give it a rough surface (bark, a coco pole, or a rock-like mount) to cling to with its adhesive roots — this species won't thrive without something textured to climb.

Give it bright, indirect light, a well-draining aroid mix, and water once the top of the soil has dried. Consistent warmth and humidity support the best growth, mirroring its native evergreen forest habitat spanning a genuinely wide range across mainland and island Southeast Asia.

A lesser-known Monstera relative for collectors interested in the full breadth of climbing Monsteroideae aroids beyond the more commonly grown Rhaphidophora and Epipremnum.
