Anadendrum Affine

Anadendrum Affine was formerly classified and traded as Scindapsus Lucens before taxonomic revision moved it into the genus Anadendrum, a close relative within the same Araceae family. It is still frequently found under its older Scindapsus name in the plant trade, even though botanically it now belongs elsewhere.

Note: as a freshly imported bare-root plant, this specimen typically arrives with just a few leaves — the photo shows a more mature, fuller specimen for reference.

Care tip: Treat it the same as you would a Scindapsus -- the reclassification is a taxonomic technicality that does not change its care needs day to day.

Give it bright indirect light, a well-draining aroid mix, and warm, humid conditions typical of Southeast Asian climbing aroids. As with its former Scindapsus cousins, it roots along the stem and climbs given support.

A good conversation piece for collectors interested in aroid taxonomy -- proof that even well-established trade names sometimes get reshuffled as botanists refine the family tree.
