Hoya Incurvula

Hoya Incurvula was collected by Schlechter on Gunung Kaweng in the Minahasa highlands of North Sulawesi and described in 1916. It's endemic to Sulawesi, growing as an epiphyte with variably shaped succulent leaves — round to oblong, 2–5 cm long — arranged in opposite pairs.

Note: as a freshly imported bare-root plant, this specimen typically arrives with just a few leaves — the photo shows a more mature, fuller specimen for reference.

Care tip: This is a fast, willing grower ideally suited to a hanging basket, and can flower nearly year-round indoors — give it high humidity and protection from harsh direct sun.

This species is easily confused with the closely related Hoya brevialata, another Sulawesi native — the two are distinguished by leaf shape, with Hoya incurvula showing pointed, rounded to oval leaves where H. brevialata's are always perfectly round. In the trade both are sometimes sold simply as "Hoya sp. Sulawesi." Give it bright indirect light, a well-draining mix, and consistent humidity, and it will reward with reliable, near-continuous flowering.

A genuinely easy-going Sulawesi endemic for growers who want frequent blooms without a fussy plant.
