Emblemantha Urnulata was described by B.C. Stone and is endemic to Sumatra, the sole species in its genus (Emblemantha) within the primrose family (Primulaceae). It's been circulated in the trade under several different names — including "Ardisia sp. Sumatra" (as reflected in this listing) and "Labisia sp. Riau" — all referring to the same genuinely variable, colorful understory plant, since its correct identity as Emblemantha has only recently become more widely recognized. This "Green" form shows the species' foliage in a straightforward green colorway.
Note: as a freshly imported bare-root plant, this specimen typically arrives with just a few leaves — the photo shows a more mature, fuller specimen for reference.
Care tip: Keep the soil moist but never wet — this species dislikes both drying out and sitting in soggy substrate for extended periods.
Give it partial shade to dappled light year-round (never direct sun), a minimum temperature of 61°F (16°C) during the growing season, and acidic, well-draining substrate (a sphagnum, perlite, and peat mix works well). Fertilize sparingly with a diluted balanced liquid fertilizer every two weeks during active growth.
