Diplazium Sp New is a recently collected, as-yet unidentified Diplazium fern. Diplazium is a large genus of over 400 fern species found across the tropics and subtropics, many of which are used as a leafy vegetable across Southeast Asia (known locally as "paku" or "pakis") — young fiddleheads of several species are a common food crop.

Note: as a freshly imported bare-root plant, this specimen typically arrives with just a few leaves — the photo shows a more mature, fuller specimen for reference.

Care tip: Give it consistent humidity and airflow rather than direct sun — like most understory ferns, it burns easily in bright light but suffers in stagnant, poorly ventilated conditions.

Give it bright, indirect light, 60-80% humidity, and a well-draining, humus-rich fern mix. Keep evenly moist; avoid waterlogging

As with all locality-named or informally identified fern finds, exact appearance and mature growth habit will vary — the photo shows a mature reference specimen — your bare-root plant will typically be smaller. Southeast Asian fern diversity remains under active documentation, and finds like this one reflect the genuinely wide range of texture and form found across the region's forest floor and epiphytic fern flora.
