Asplenium Thunbergii was previously circulated in the trade simply as "Fern thunbergi" before more precise identification placed it in Asplenium, one of the largest fern genera in the world with over 700 species, including the well-known bird's-nest fern (Asplenium nidus). The genus name comes from the Greek for "spleen," referencing its historical use in traditional medicine for that organ.
Note: as a freshly imported bare-root plant, this specimen typically arrives with just a few leaves — the photo shows a more mature, fuller specimen for reference.
Care tip: Give it consistent humidity and airflow rather than direct sun — like most understory ferns, it burns easily in bright light but suffers in stagnant, poorly ventilated conditions.
